Non-Best Qualified App Denial Template

When denying applicants with strong applications, but you simply approved the strongest application:

If the applicants did not meet our approval requirements, then it is a denial just as you would any other applicant.

However, IF they MEET our approval requirements, but were not the BEST QUALIFIED (such as the other applicant group had more income/closer move in date, etc) then we let them know we appreciate their interest, but we have approved the best qualified applicants. The caveat here iss that when you receive multiple applications for one property, you need to let all applicants know (or the agents). This creates a lot less friction when they know they are competing and then later they lose.

You may use the following template when notifying "non-best-qualified" applicants that their application has been denied:

Dear {{Applicant’s Name}},

Thank you very much for your interest in renting {{Property Address}}. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that we have moved forward with another applicant whose qualifications more closely meet the requirements for this property.

We appreciate the time and effort you put into your application and wish you the best of luck in your housing search.
